Ever since I was in my early teens, I have been very interested in Jazz. I was first attracted to jazz music as a result of The Dave Brubeck Quartet’s experimentation with different time signatures. Particularly, the song called “Take Five” which is rather unusual because if you wanna count along with it, you have to count to five. The most interesting aspect about the song is the solo by Paul Desmond; he was the band’s alto saxophonist and he composed “Take Five.” After I had heard this song, I was curious about more songs with weird timing… So I looked around for more music from The Dave Brubeck Quartet. This was when I found out that they had relaesed a series of albums in which they experimented with time.
